Linden Lab has released an official statement that they will now actively enforce a ban on online gambling activities, in an attempt to be compliance with various gambling laws around the world. It’s a bold move but one I am not sure can be enforced properly. It’s like trying to yank copyrighted materials from YouTube. We will see how it goes.

NCSoft just announced that they will be closing the doors to Auto Assault on September 1st, 2007, citing financial losses as the reason for the closure. It’s always sad to see an MMO closes, especially one that tried to be different but failed to execute fully. No one at NCSoft has been laid off due to this. There’s no plan at this time for ArenaNet to buy back AA from NCSoft (NCSoft owns the IP). See also a short interview with NCSoft.
